This year there will be a junior and a senior division. Juniors are ages 8-13 as of 1/1/08. No senior is eligible if they are not currently in school(no college students). If there is a mixed team of juniors and seniors, which is permitted, they will compete as seniors.

The following awards will be presented to seniors:

Individual awards become the property of the individual. Team awards become the property of the 4-H organization or FFA Chapter which they represent. Team members must be members of 4-H or FFA. Awards will be presented in the show arena at approximately 5.00 p.m.
The contest will consist of nine (9) classes, each class worth 50 points and one class worth 100 points. There will be three (3) cattle classes which will be placing classes of four animals in each class and one keep/cull class (100 points) if arrangements can be made to obtain eight heifers for this class. Five questions (10 total) will be asked from each of two of the placing classes and these will be identified at the beginning of the contest. Cattle questions (each worth 5 points) will be asked following the quiz in the arena without the use of notes.
There may be one class of bulls and/or one class of cow-calf pairs. At least one class will utilize EPD’s for birth, weaning, and yearling weight, milk and other EPD’s that are appropriate for that breed such as calving ease direct (CED) and maternal (CEM), scrotal circumference, heifer pregnancy, etc. Data might include ultrasound information as either an EPD or actual measurement and ratio. Cattle in classes which utilize EPD’s will be true contemporaries.
There will be one (1) quiz class. This class will consist of ten (10) questions each worth five (5) points. Contestants will be expected to answer questions without the use of notes. Contestants will be seated in the arena as a group for this class and the ten questions will be asked allowing contestants time to answer each question before the next is asked. Each question will be repeated at least once. All parents, coaches and others will be asked to remain outside.
